Best Club/Venue Award 2015
Space
The iconic venue, Captained by the legendary Pepe Rosello, will set sail on its final voyage in 2016 after chartering the electronic seas of the Mediterranean for the past two decades. A monument to Dance Culture and its contribution in helping build brand Ibiza, cannot be underestimated. Hopefully the crowds as a mark of respect, will pack out the club next summer and give it the sendoff it deserves.
Amnesia
Music On, Cream, Cocoon and House Of Madness, were all strong performers at the San Rafel club this year and Hyte did just enough to return next summer - but it remains a risky gamble. However you have to applaud venues willing to take risks with music policy and as a commercial club, Amnesia was top dog again this summer.
Pacha.
A good year for Pacha with solid performances from a number of parties including in house productions Flower Power, Pure Pacha with Bob Sinclair and Insane, which is steadily making a name for itself. Guetta outperformed Aoki in the all important VIP revenue stakes and Solomun was busy all 20 weeks of the season.
DC10
A beacon of light for well over 15 years on the Salinas road and with the departure of Space, the venue should now be classified as an endangered species and a protection order served upon it. Jamie Jones was the highlight once again, but close up on his heels this summer was the Life and Death party with Tale Of Us on Fridays. Circo Loco is beginning to show its age but all credit to the team at DC10 for keeping it real and having everybody on their toes.
Best Small Club/Venue 2015
| Es Vive Rooftop Terrace. |
The beach venue on the island this season, serving it up to its more illustrious peer Blue Marlin with some trendy parties on the sand. Fell foul of its licencing requirements towards the end of the season with a number of forced cancellations, so hopefully it will find a way to return to winning ways next summer.
Ocean Beach Club
A revelation again this summer and has contributed to the improved product now available to clubbers in San Antonio. Loud and brash and catering to a youthful clientele, expect Ocean Beach House to be around for a number of seasons to come.
Es Vive Hotel
The Jason Bull owned venue continues to provide a stylish oasis for discerning clubbers ideally located between Ibiza Town and Playa Den Bossa. A chic venue that goes about its business without too much fanfare which is always a good sign in Ibiza. Its rooftop terrace is a great location for those intimate parties that Ibiza does best.
The Veto Social Club
A friendly, music orientated Club where its all about the people and having a good time. Open decks policy, free entry and fair drink prices make Veto Club stand out from commercial Ibiza. Afrojack was the highlight on Sundays this season and the island needs more venues like Veto to keep the real spirit of Ibiza alive.
