Al Gobi - Pueblo Grande EP on Constant State

Al Gobi aka Ian Blevins & Phil Moody are a fairly unheard pairing however as I gaze into my mythical glass ball, I foresee great things for this duo. After a string of releases on the likes of the much loved Rothmans label in Manchester and various digital releases, they have very much been crafting their style and nurturing into a well oiled tag-team. Although their previous releases held weight, it is clear that they have been experimenting with their sound, however it sounds like they finally found their sound and are very much into the idea of what they create.

The release is goes by the name 'Pueblo Grande' (a ruin and irrigation site located in Phoenix, Arizona) and is a début from new label Constant State – a project created off the back of (however it's very much a stand-alone idea) of Audio Parallax.

Each vinyl is in a hand drawn sleeve and sums up the whole idea behind the label superbly - it's art. Every aspect of it. They say art is subjective and I whole heartedly agree with that however this is one installation that I feel will be adored by many.

The release itself is 3 tracks of deliciousness. Two of the tunes are from Al Gobi and the release is finished off with a remix from Cottam of the track that is greatly named 'Cup Of Tea' who himself, is making some well deserved waves on the scene.

The originals graze through styles of electronica and it's hard to define what exactly they are – which was essentially the whole point behind the new label. However I will say this: they are superb. Astounding in fact and I cannot wait to see how this label progresses.
