Tom Trago's always been associated with quality sonics that gild around the peripheral edges of the dance floor, taking in a wealth of disparate influences and nuances to maintain a fresh sounding pallette that never sound tired and dry.
On Trago's Voyage Direct label, there's been a healthy selection of eclectic dancelfoor deviances and Dutch underground honcho Boris Werner serves up another fine transmission for the Amsterdam based imprint.
Known as a champion of after hours aesthetics, Boris' mood and approach to the dancefloor is summer up perfectly on Acid Casino, a pulsing, scatty and acid drenched tribal tech-slammer. A bottom heavy, late night frontal, it's analogue-esque, squelching bassline hypnotises through it's hazy sound.
Upstairs or Downstairs continues in the same fashion, albeit a lighter and more haunted feeling with daintily hit pads and ear thy sub bass lines runnign throughout. On the drop, Boris's fluctuating sound pitches further into darker. murkier territory, mixing deep house structure with tech-fused clout.
A no-nonsense release from a king of the Dutch dancefloor, the latest cut from Trago's brimming label only speaks further of Werner's far reaching style and willingness to experiment. Perhaps this is why his latest voyage from the stars fits in so well with Trago's already respected reputation and the label's cannon of sounds. either way, the EP offers another trip into the never regions of house music, bringing back with it a textured, intricate tail to tell. Rock solid stuff.
